Is the Hatred For OGD the Beginning of Political Madness for Gov. Dapo Abiodun?
Dapo Abiodun gets power drunk and stops federal road construction in Ogun State, insists Federal Govt Must Get Written Consent From Him before Constructing Roads For Ogun State People🤷🏿♂️
In this piece, The Mayor of Fadeyi, a proud citizen of Ogun State, is asking the same pertinent questions currently echoing in the hearts of many Ogun indigenes as Governor Dapo Abiodun goes scorched earth against OGD in Ogun State.
In the space of just a few months, Governor Abiodun has taken unprecedented actions that have shocked political observers across the country:
- He just stopped a Federal Government road construction project in Sagamu simply to prevent Senator Gbenga Daniel (OGD) from receiving any credit.
- His operatives continues to ban politicians from attending community development meetings with OGD’s senate committee and threatened reprisals against anyone associated with him.
- His people concocted a fake suspension of OGD from the party without serving OGD any petitions or even issuing an official suspension letter that OGD or the public can see. Yet they went on tv stations and newspapers to announce th phantom suspension to cause confusion in the state. Months after alleged suspension, no documentation or proof yet govt of Dapo Abiodun in ogun state insists he is on suspension and no APC person should deal with him even in official community project and senatorial oversight matters.
- We still remember that like a joke months ago, Gov Dapo demolished OGD’s wife’s shopping mall while matter was still in court and has recently threatened to demolish all OGD’s houses in Ogun State .
So, the question is simple and urgent:
- What exactly is going on in Ogun State?
- What is making Gov Dapo so careless (or so bold) as to actually do what no governor in the history of nigeria has done before: Stop federal govt spending money on his state?
- Since when did desperation for a Senate seat descend into full-blown political warfare?
- When did Fear of Otunba Gbenga Daniel become the Beginning of Political Madness for Gov. Dapo Abiodun? And
- when did political Desperation Become State Policy for Gov. Dapo Abiodun?
Before I delve deep into latest troubling situation in Ogun State and For benefit of those who may not have been following the latest developments, let me break this down clearly:
1. In a shocking abuse of office—and a new low in Ogun State politics—Governor Dapo Abiodun has taken his full blown vendetta campaign against Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD). his former ally, and political benefactor turned perceived political threat.gtg
From halting federal infrastructure projects to blacklisting political operatives and spreading AI-generated propaganda, Governor Abiodun has turned the entire machinery of state into a private political revenge tool, with one singular mission: to crush the man he fears most in the 2027 Ogun East senatorial primaries.
But this time, the people of Ogun are not staying silent and people outside the state are asking tough questions since both personalities are from the same party
2. The Most Brazen Act Yet: Blocking a Tinubu-Backed Federal Road:
In the most egregious example of this vendetta, Governor Abiodun ordered the suspension of a Federal Government road project in Sagamu—a project that was lobbied for by Ogun State federal legislators led by OGD and approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration through the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
The Paddy-Arikawe-Oye Igbimo Road, awarded to Minim and Tonye Nigeria Ltd, was already mobilized and starting construction when the Ogun State Ministry of Works swooped in with a stop-work order, citing “lack of state government clearance.”
To be clear: our state governor Dapo Abiodun halted a federally approved project, aimed to put road in Ogun state and boost its economy just because his his written consent was not sort by the Fed govt of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While he tried to justify this under some murky never-before implemented constitutional provisions, this isn’t governance. This is vindictive sabotage of the people’s development.
Just to be sure, we researched the entire history of Nigeria since independence, and we could NOT find a single instance where a state governor stopped a Federal Government road construction project that was intended to benefit his people.
In other words, Governor Dapo Abiodun is now demanding that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must seek written consent from him before constructing roads in Ogun State and then gave a wish washy defense when the people shouted.
Even more bizarre, in his press release attempting to defend the indefensible, Governor Abiodun claimed this is normal to demand a letter of request from the presidency or federal govt and as a precedent he claimed he also previously received a letter requesting permission for a similar project from Federal Govt through one Adewunmi Onanuga in the past (we will come back to this) —so in his own words, he stopped this project because, according to him, he had not yet received any request or granted any approval to the fed govt as is ‘customary’ according to him
Sagamu Citizens Outraged: “You’re Hurting Us Just to Spite OGD”
The people of Sagamu of course didn’t take this lying down. Outraged residents erupted in protest, accusing the governor of placing personal vendetta over public interest.
“This governor has no empathy for the people,” said one frustrated resident. “The roads are bad. Help finally comes, and he blocks it—because he doesn’t want Daniel to get credit?”
Another lamented: “This is not the first time. Anytime Senator Daniel facilitates a project, Dapo Abiodun finds a way to try to frustrate it. Is he governor for us—or for his ego?”
Then Came the Lie That Underscored the fact that Gov Dapo Abiodun did not think this latest absurdity of rejecting federal resources through before acting, just like the previous ill conceived attempts to demolish OGD houses in ogun state in his scorched earth political fight with the sitting senator from his state.
In a desperate attempt to justify his action, Governor Abiodun’s media team released a statement claiming that the President of Nigeria must first obtain his permission before executing any federal project in Ogun State.
But the absurdity didn’t stop there.
In the same statement, the Governor claimed the federal govt knew they had to do that because he had also received a letter dated February 1st, 2025 requesting permission to commence another federal road project in his state —allegedly written Deputy chief whip Adewunmi Onanuga, the Federal Representative on the House Committee on Federal Roads.
But Here’s the problem: Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga died on January 15th, 2025. So many are asking: How can a deceased man write a letter two weeks after his own funeral?
Seriously, Does Governor Abiodun think Ogun citizens are too dumb to use Google?
This isn’t just incompetence. It is pathological lying, wrapped in official stationery, with gross disrespect for public intelligence and the presidency for him to make this kind of claim that is easily verified as a lie
we are still waiting for him to deploy his dense communications team to explain how a dead man wrote them a letter for consent 2 weeks after burial
Meanwhile, and Once again, Governor Dapo Abiodun has been caught red-handed, abusing his office to pursue political vendettas—and when exposed, he resorted to ghost correspondents from beyond the grave.
Summary of The Vendetta Playbook: Blacklists, Demolitions, AI Forgeries, and More to date
This incident is not isolated. It fits into a wider, coordinated pattern of political warfare against OGD since the new political season for 2027 started
✅ Blacklisting Politicians who attend constituency development meetings with OGD:
I have personally seen several WhatsApp and SMS messages sent to political operatives in Ogun State, by operatives of the Dapo Abiodun’s machinery, threatening that anyone who associates with OGD will be blacklisted from government appointments or delegate consideration—regardless of their competence. We even have audio files of some of these strange threats
Out of respect for those who forwarded these messages to us, we are withholding names for now. But we challenge Governor Dapo Abiodun to deny this, and we will provide strict proofat the appropriate time and forum.
✅ 1,200 Special Assistants were appointed by Gov Dapo Abioudin with Ogun state money in another last minute desperate efforts to promote Gov Dapo at grassroots (frankly, this appears to me like advance appointment of campaign thugs and I will be publishing an article on that too)
Governor Abiodun recently appointed 1,200 “Special Assistants” across all wards in the state. Their only mandate? To “communicate the governor’s achievements” at the grassroots. This is nothing but a misuse of public funds to fund a premature campaign army, all while INEC’s ban on active campaigning remains in force.
If the governor truly wanted to empower youths, why did it take six years in office to suddenly appoint 1,200 assistants? And if really needed feedback from the states why would he need 1,200 special assistants when he controls the state tv, radio, newspapers and ministries of information ? This is absurdity on steroids
✅ Fake AI Documents Circulated on WhatsApp alleging Anti party activity by OGD
We have seen what appears to an AI-generated document being circulated in WhatsApp groups by Governor Abiodun’s allies, falsely accusing OGD of anti-party activities before the last elections. Despite their boldness online, no one has had the courage to file a formal complaint before the APC disciplinary committee with this document as evidence. Why? Because they know it’s fake.
Moreover while I have seen some dumb moves from politicians it is stretching the imagination of keen observers to imagine that OGD, a canny and highly accomplished ex governor of Ogun state himself , and a current senator will send a WhatsApp text to ‘1,000s of followers’ to go and vote against his party as the WhatsApp message claimed
In my sincere opinion , only a very dumb politician will make such an amateurish move in an era where people can easily forward or share screenshots they received from 3rd parties. OGD has been called a lot of names by his admirers and haters but I doubt anyone will associate the word ‘dumb’ to him.
Yet, Dapo’s APC people are gleefully sharing what was clearly on its face a fake WhatsApp message as their ‘smoking’ gun of anti party activity by OGD.
I really had to LOL at that because only oblivious politicians like Dapo Abiodun’s people will believe any intelligent person will buy that ‘proof’ of anti party activities from them . It’s probably why they can’t make a real complaint or APC bodies based on that
✅ Demolition of OGD Properties
From the illegal demolition of OGD’s wife’s billion-naira shop in 2023, to threats to demolish all of OGD’s homes in Ogun State, Governor Abiodun’s obsession is no longer political—it is personal and pathological.
✅ Fake Suspension News
Abiodun’s media cronies have spread fake news claiming OGD has been suspended from the APC. Yet, months after nobody has seen any formal petition. Nobody has seen a real disciplinary panel. There has been No official communication of any suspension whatsoever. Just whispers, memes, and WhatsApp rumors by funny guys nobody ever hears about and who hold no official positions in the party .
2027 in View: Is the Fear of OGD Now Driving State Policy?
Governor Dapo Abiodun and his people have made it clear: he wants to take over the Ogun East Senatorial Seat in 2027.
But instead of earning the people’s trust through performance, he is using fear, blackmail, and sabotage to erase OGD from the political landscape.
This scorched-earth politics is not just dangerous—it is a betrayal of democracy. It reduces governance to a battlefield of personal grudges. And it confirms what many in Ogun State have long suspected:
According to a distressed Director in one of Dapo Abiodun’s own govt ministries, who is embarrassed and sad at how much his state is losing because of this petty persecution campaign against OGD but spoke ot us under cover of anonymity: “We are being ruled by a small man in a very big office, and it’s a big stain on our great state”
Legal Action Underway: We Are Not Sleeping
As part of our civic responsibility at Naija Lives Matter, we have filed multiple Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to different Ogun State ministries demanding access to records of public spending, appointments, and questionable transactions. So far, they have ignored all requests in violation of the FOI Act.
We are now preparing to file suits in court to compel compliance, and we will continue to update the public.
The People Are Watching
While schools remain underfunded, roads lie in ruin, and young people struggle with joblessness, Governor Dapo Abiodun is using his time and resources to fight one man—OGD. In the process, he is robbing the people of Ogun State of their right to enjoy Federal Government interventions.
But power is fleeting. And no matter how many press releases he issues, or how many projects he sabotages, the people of Ogun will remember.
• They will remember the roads not built—because of pettiness.
• They will remember the lies told to hide the truth—because of cowardice.
• They will remember the destructive vendettas pursued—because of insecurity by their governor
And come 2027, I sincerely hope the people of Ogun State will choose better.
I know I will be praying fervently—against the spirit of Stockholm Syndrome—for the good people of Ogun.
Its like you read my mind You appear to know a lot about this like you wrote the book in it or something I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit but instead of that this is fantastic blog An excellent read I will certainly be back
